What will we teach you?

The study offers basic knowledge in all fundamental areas of the discipline – in applied, visual, linguistic, economic, and political anthropology, anthropology of religion, theory of ethnicity, migration, kinship, the methodology of science, and ethnography. You will also acquire practical skills in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of field research. There are three specialisations within the field: social, applied and visual anthropology. The study also focuses on the Romani language and culture.

What will you become?

You will work in the integration of marginalised groups, in the field of human rights protection, community management and project management in the position as a specialist or project leader. You will be indispensable in the preparation and implementation of applied anthropological research; in public administration and the non-governmental non-profit sector in areas where knowledge of broader contexts is needed. You can also work in municipal offices and in public administration in general; in cooperation on the creation of strategic documents, projects, analyses and crisis plans of municipalities, economic entities and organizations of the non-profit and for-profit sector. You will also be involved in the management of educational and cultural activities, in social services in various project positions, and in the corporate sphere in the field of human resources.

If you choose to focus on visual anthropology, you can work in the fields of advertising, filmmaking, etc.

Full-time study

Full-time study has a fixed schedule on weekdays during mornings and/or afternoons. As a student, you will be on campus daily participating in seminars and lectures. You will have the status of student.

The master's degree programme offers an extension of knowledge in the field of social and cultural anthropology and visual anthropology. This includes a thorough knowledge of the basics of sociological and socio- and cultural-anthropological theory and sub-disciplines of the field. The study offers an extension and deepening of knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research with an emphasis on ethnography. Furthermore, there is a focus on the acquisition of broad-spectrum knowledge in the field, especially ethnography, theories and methods in the social sciences, ethnicity and nationalism, economic, ecological anthropology, the theory of kinship and anthropology of the Romani.
