What will we teach you?

In Religious Studies, you will acquire the ability to independently interpret religious and cultural phenomena, especially myths and rituals, to recognise types of religious preconceptions and lines of reasoning. You will get acquainted with the religious systems of the past and with current religious life. You will learn to translate from contemporary and ancient languages and gain a broader view of life and society. You will be able to better recognise and resist demagoguery, fake news, populism or manipulation.

The branch of study Philosophy will expand your knowledge related to classical philosophical topics, and thus develop your systematic thinking, working with professional sources and critical thinking.

What will you become?

Upon successful completion of your studies, you can work in state administration and public administration bodies, non-profit organisations, and the media. As our graduate you will be fluent in English at the B2 level, and you will be able to prepare a grant application to support cultural or community projects. Based on the combination with philosophy, you will gain a broader view of life and society, good argumentation skills, and be able to perform in public spaces.

The follow-up postgraduate study of philosophy focuses on topics of the European philosophical tradition from the Greek beginnings to the present, with special emphasis on the philosophy of human practice – ethics and political thought. The aim of the study is to thoroughly introduce the main currents, directions and questions of these philosophical disciplines, in relation to European metaphysical thinking. Ethics and political philosophy are not understood as separate specialised disciplines, but as perspectives of exploring thinking that remain philosophical in the original sense.

This two-year, tuition-free Master of Arts (MA) programme, taught in English, is conducted in cooperation with the Centre for Ethics as Study in Human Value, an internationally renowned research centre. The programme offers full specialisation in the two main domains of practical philosophy: ethics and political philosophy. It is ideally, but not exclusively, suited for students with a BA degree in general philosophy.
